Welcome to the USS Columbus-A!

Episode 2: Columbus Ascending

A newly re-christened Titan-class Command Carrier, the USS Columbus-A serves as the flagship of Bravo Fleet's Task Force 38, spearheading Starfleet's exploration of the Delta Quadrant.

Originally a prototype Galaxy-class Refit, the first Columbus was scheduled for a ten year mission of exploration in the Delta Quadrant by way of the rediscovered Barzan wormhole. Near the end of her shakedown cruise, however, elements of Task Force 38 made contact with Starfleet Command via the Fourth of July nebula terminus of the wormhole known as the Epatha Gateway. Subsequently, Starfleet tasked the Columbus with the resupply and reinforcement of Task Force 38.

The Columbus, however, would never reach the Delta Quadrant. An unexpected confrontation with an Orion Syndicate fleet resulted in irreparable damage to ship. Although it was able to limp to Starbase 611, the Galaxy Refit was deemed unsalvageable and the crew was transferred to the USS Valkyrie, a new Titan-class Command Carrier awaiting crew assignment. Now re-christened the Columbus-A, the ship and crew patrol the Gradin Belt, investigating reports of pirate activity and their possible link to the Orion Syndicate.

» MISSION UPDATE: Episode 2: Columbus Ascending

Posted on Wed Aug 29th, 2018 @ 12:23pm by Commander Milo Tora in Sim Announcement

August has been kind of a slow month, but the good news is there’s still a few days left to post! (Hint, hint.) There's been a period of adjustment for me since taking over as TFCO of 64 and I appreciate everyone hanging in there. Now that I've got things under control, more or less, it's time to get the ship moving again. If you haven’t already, please make your way to the new ship and report to Commander Channe. We will be starting the next part of the current mission on 9/4/2018 and would prefer to have everyone on board by then. If your character(s) is not on the ship by the time the next mission starts, you will need to contact Command staff to explain and make arrangements. Failure to contact Command staff may result in your being left behind.

As a reminder, posting requirements are one post per week and TAGs should be responded to with 48 hours. Please refer to the Rulez if you have any questions about posting.

Happy Simming!

Posted on Wed Jul 11th, 2018 @ 9:26pm by Commander Milo Tora in Sim Announcement

A series of events are unfolding that will lead to a change of ship class for the USS Columbus. The new vessel, the USS Columbus-A, will be Titan Class (very very new), a mobile command base. At a time when Starbase 900 lies in ruins, destroyed in the Borg attack, the need for a base that can move/defend itself has never been more necessary.

The Columbus will serve as a platform for the stories of three ships -- the USS Columbus-A and the two ships that use the Columbus as their home port, the USS Pearl (Diligent Class) and the USS Mako (Defiant Class). Three crews that will write on one platform, sometimes together and sometimes apart.

Their mission will be pursuing Orion Syndicate/Cartel operations in the Delta Quadrant (and discovering its connections back to the Alpha Quadrant) and will focus on the same region of space where the USS Steadfast currently is.

Essentially, two NOVA sims - one for the USS Columbus-A, Pearl, and Mako together, and the other, for the USS Steadfast. What happens on one sim, will have effects that are felt on the other.

To facilitate interactions between the crews, we have set up a separate Discord channel, Joint Operations - Task Force 38A - so that everyone can share information/chat/etc. If you're interested in joining the channel, please let us know.

Cmdr. Lucien St. Cyr, commanding the USS Steadfast
Cmdr. Milo Tora, commanding the USS Columbus
Ronan Channe will be commanding the USS Pearl (once events unfold); the Captain of the USS Mako has yet to be determined.

An explosion rocked the ship just before midnight, Dec. 14th, 2388 and triggered Red Alert! Word spread quickly that several people were injured or possibly even killed, but reliable information is scarce. We encourage everyone to write a post about what their character was doing when the explosion happened and how they reacted afterwards.

MISSION UPDATE: Episode 1: To Boldly Go...

We will be wrapping up "And We're Off!" shortly. There are a number of minor malfunctions plaguing the ship, including doors not working right, the turbolifts going to the wrong deck, replicators producing the wrong things, etc. We encourage everyone to write a post about their character encountering one or more of these malfunctions.

The malfunctions may only effect secondary, non-critical functions and may not permanently damage the ship or seriously injure anyone.
