Colonel Drass Kebron

Name Drass Kebron

Position Battalion Commander

Rank Colonel

Character Information

Gender Male
Species Brikar
Age 61

Physical Appearance

Height 2.5m in standard gravity, closer to 2.7m in Brikarian gravity
Weight 352kg
Hair Color N/A
Eye Color Black
Physical Description Drass has chiseled features and the surface of his body is covered in rough, crystal like facets, giving him a distinct rock-like appearance (picture the Thing from the Fantastic Four). He's larger and stronger than most other Brikar; Starfleet Medical believes this is because he has spent his entire life in Earth standard gravity, opposed to his home world's low gravity environment. He's squarish in stature and has small all-black eyes, two vertical slits for a nose, a simple slit for a mouth, and two small circular ear holes on either side of his proportionally small and compact head. Finally, he has three-fingered hands featuring two fingers arranged in a 'V' pattern and an opposed thumb.

Drass is incredibly strong, even by Brikar standards, capable of lifting several tons a maximum effort. His large size makes him rather slow and clumsy, especially in small, cramped, and/or crowded environments. Despite this, he is capable of short bursts of impressive speed and agility, though they leave him very fatigued afterwards. Like the rest of his race, his thick, crystalline hide is highly resistant (but not invulnerable) to energy, projectile, and melee weapons, earning him the nickname "The Juggernaut" during the Dominion War. Also like the rest of his race, he is unusually susceptible to the lower power stun settings on most energy weapons, as well as sonic based weapons, the effects of which last about twice as long on him as they would on the average human. It should be further noted that he is unusually slow to heal when he is injured due to his slow metabolism and even slower rate of cellular division, taking up to twice as long as the average human. Dermal regeneration requires a significantly more powerful regenerator than normal and can take up to twice as many treatments to heal a given injury as the same wound on the average human.

Family

Father Commander Koss Kebron
Mother Commander Dona Kebron

Personality & Traits

General Overview Drass is a kind and compassionate individual who always puts the safety of others before his own. To those who don't know him, he comes off as gruff and distant, and a bit crass. He is exceptionally stubborn and strong willed, and as a result is highly resistant to telepathic influence and interrogation. He is extremely loyal, almost to a fault, and will readily jump to the defense of his friends and comrades (which has led too many a bar fight during his life). While he is not above using violence to resolve conflicts, he always makes it a point to never start a fight. He simply finishes them.

Because of the renowned Brikarian stoicism, Drass comes off as gruff and distance, as previously mentioned. He has a good sense of character and a rather sarcastic sense of humor. Unlike most other Brikar, he lacks the usual prejudice toward Klingons, having been raised outside of that society. That said, most Klingons don't bother asking his feelings on the subject and just assume he is like all other Brikar. Thus most of his previous dealings with Klingons have inevitably ended with a fight.

Drass' Academy psychological evaluation indicated that he suffers from mild claustrophobia. While treatment was offered, Drass refused to acknowledge even the possibility that he had claustrophobia, much less needed treatment for it. For this reason, it is recommended that he be kept under close observation during any extended service aboard a starship.

Update:
Following his incarceration, Drass has shown himself to be much more cynical, pessimistic, and confrontational than he had been previously. He has demonstrated a complete lack of faith in the Starfleet judicial system and has shown a new tendency towards violent outbursts, usually resulting in moderate collateral damage. To date, however, he has not physically harmed anyone. Lastly, he appears to have developed an uncharacteristic dislike of Cardassians. It is the opinion of Starfleet Medical that Drass have regular counseling sessions until such a time that the aforementioned issues are resolved.

Medical Profile:
Drass has had very few major injuries during his time with Starfleet, aside from the injuries sustained during his first encounter with the Jem'Hadar. Health wise, he has no known allergies and had the Brikarian variant of both the Measles and Mumps as a child.

While Drass is highly resistant to disease and injury, when he does become sick and/or injured, it can take twice as long or longer for him to recover due to his slower metabolism and slower rate of cellular division. While recovering, it is highly recommended that he refrain from strenuous activity and get lots of rest, despite his objections otherwise.

Update: While incarcerated, Drass suffered a myriad of injuries and maladies, ranging from mild to life threatening, but made a full recovery each time and is in ideal health.

Training:
Drass has been fully trained in all aspects of security/tactical, including rigorous flight training, and engineering. While proficient with all Starfleet weapons, he specializes in close quarters and hand to hand combat. He is highly skilled with many bladed weapons, including the katana, bat'leth, and mek'leth. Despite passing his engineering certification boards with flying colors, he opted for a position in Security, following in his father's footsteps.

During the Dominion War, in order to produce trained crews faster, Starfleet Academy cut back on inter-discipline training. Thus, Drass took only the basic courses necessary in navigation, science, ops, and medical. Now that the war is over, he hopes to broaden his training, esp. in the area of science, but has yet to do so.
Strengths & Weaknesses Drass has a unique command style among high-ranking Marine officers in that he is always the first one into combat and the last one out. This "lead from the front" approach has caused his leadership ability to be questioned on more than one occasion, but has never failed to earn the respect and loyalty of those that have served with and under him.
Hobbies & Interests Interests: Close quarters combat, botany, science
Likes: Justice, puzzles, weight lifting, target practice, model building, fishing, reading old earth sci-fi
Dislikes: Cardassians, criminals, conflict, small crowded spaces, illicit drugs and anything else that messes with one's head

Personal History Drass was born to Koss and Dona Kebron while they were stationed at Deep Space 5. As a young child Drass spent most of his time while not in class alone, as the other children on the station generally avoided him. This didn't seem to bother him, since he spent most of his free time reading, tinkering with various pieces of discarded tech, building things, fishing on the holo-deck, or listening to the stories told by various travelers as they passed through the station. When he was ten he was given a job by a freighter captain moving freight on and off the ship. While working on the freighter, he met a young Andorian orphan that the captain had 'adopted' named Talain. The two became fast friends and would later attend Starfleet Academy together.

At the age of 18, Drass applied and was accepted to Starfleet Academy. He chose to follow in the footsteps of his parents, double majoring in Security/Tactical and Engineering. During his first semester, his Intro to Starship Combat Tactics instructor recommended he give the Marine Corps ROTC program a try. He did and was surprised to find that he enjoyed the rigid structure and more challenging curriculum. The intensive calisthenics were a bonus. His time at the Academy was largely uneventful, save for the dozen or so bar fights he was involved in. While he was cleared of any wrong doing in each case, the incidents remained on his permanent record.

Because of his double major and involvement in ROTC, Drass spent an additional two years at the Academy beyond the standard four year program. When he did graduate, he was immediately offered a commission in the Federation Marine Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Platoon Leader in 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit, 3rd Battalion's Bravo Company, which he accepted. His first assignment was to assist in the relocation of Federation colonists after their colony worlds were ceded to the Cardassians as a result of a new treaty. Near the end of the year, he participated in one of the first skirmishes of the Federation-Maquis conflict after a Maquis cell attempted to ambush his platoon. Drass led his troops to defeat and capture the Maquis cell, all while incurring no losses. As a result, he was promoted to First Lieutenant and made XO of his company.

In late 2373 Drass participated in the first ground action of the Dominion War, leading the defense of a Federation scientific outpost while the civilian inhabitance was evacuated. As he and one of his platoons were preparing for evac on the last of the shuttles, a group of Jem'Hadar broke through the automated defense perimeter they had hastily erected to cover their retreat. Single handedly, Drass engaged and defeated the Jem'Hadar in personal combat, buying enough time for the surviving members of the platoon to load the last of the civilians onto the shuttle. He barely made it to the shuttle before it was forced to lift off. As a result of his actions, he was promoted to Captain and given command of his company.

Over the course of the war, Drass participated in the defense and evacuation of over a dozen Federation outposts and colonies, and a total of 152 combat actions. In recognition of his contribution during the war, he was promoted to Major and assigned as XO of the 7th MEU's 3rd Battalion.

For the next several years Drass and his unit were deployed across Federation, mainly in police actions against pirates attacking border colonies and the occasional support action against elements of the Orion Syndicate. By 2388 he was a Lieutenant Colonel commanding the 3rd Battalion of the 7th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU). After the discovery of the Epatha Gateway connection in the Fourth of July Nebula, the 7th MEU was rolled into the 38th MEU, forming the 38th Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF). As a result of the reorganization, Drass was promoted to a full bird Colonel and given command of new MEF's 2nd Battalion.
