Posted on Sun Nov 11th, 2018 @ 7:36pm by Lieutenant Marcus Alexander, MD & Lieutenant JG Konebak Zek

Mission: Episode 2: Columbus Ascending
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: 2389/01/02 - 0900

Finally let out of the cell Konebak stretched his arms and neck as he walked down the long halls of the Columbus. He would occasionally stop to think about how bad his first day on the ship was and how he could only go up from here or so he hoped. giving his head a shake he made his way to the turbolift and tapped his comm badge. "Doctor this is Konebak Chief engineer, my apologies for holding you up I was expected to come down yesterday but I got held up if your ready for my examination I'll meet you in the sickbay."

“Understood,” Marcus acknowledged. “We should be able to work you in between the other exams. Alexander out.”

Taking the turbo lift up to the Sickbay he walked in looking around. "Guess it's about time I made it here." He said with a sigh of relief. he walked in to the doctors office and peaked in on the doctor. "Konebak Lieutenant Junior Grade reporting in doctor."

The doctor looked up from his report, kind of shocked by what he saw. Not expecting the new Chief Engineer to look so much like an insect. He had met most the Xindi subspecies but never an insectiod. “Good morning, Lieutenant. Ready to get this exam started?” he asked.

"When ever you are ready Doctor." He said with a sigh of relief, he had finally met an officer that didn't look ready to kill him or attack him personally after just meeting him.

Marcus stood up from his chair and made his way around the desk. He picked up the nearby tricorder. "Just follow me," the doctor said. He made his way over to the open bio-bed. "Just have a seat and we can begin."

Following the doctor to the bio-bed he took a seat. "Whatever you say doc just don't ask me to bend over and cough." He Laughed as he finished his sentence.

Marcus took the tricorder off the nearby stand and started to scan the Lieutenant. “Last time I checked that’s not how you check an Xindi insectiod for a hernia. Come to think of it, I’m not even sure you can get a hernia,” Marcus that with a straight face. He then cracked a smile at the bug.

"I'm not even going to explain that process." He twitch uncomfortably.

“Agreed,” Marcus said. He continued his scan, “so what made a Xindi-insectiod join Starfleet?”

"A need to improve, A need to change the opinion of others about my race, and a need to be the best I can be." He spoke with such a serious tone that he almost forgot he was even in the sickbay. "My apologies Doctor, what made you want to join."

Marcus closed his tricorder. “Fourth generation Starfleet, it’s been a family tradition. Plus I get to see thing no one law ever has before. Tricorder readings report normal insectiod physiology. Any medical problems I should know about, those not listed in your service record.”

"None that I'm aware of." He said with a puzzled look on his face. "I'm sorry Doc but anything i'd ever suffered from would be in there."

“Just a standard question I have to ask,” Marcus replied seeing the puzzled look on the Lieutenant’s face. “Everything looks good,” Marcus told Konebak.

"Let me ask you something doc?" he said with a stern tone as he sat up from the bed. "What is the whole story about this ship and it's crew, I need to know what i'm walking into so i don't have anymore incidents."

Marcus had a look of confusion on his face. “The story is on the Columbus’s maiden voyage, she was sabotaged by members of the Orion Syndicate, four members of the crew were murdered, and then we were attacked by multiple stolen Romulan Warbirds. Our Chief of Security blames herself. Well most of the senior staff blame ourselves in some ways. Everyone who was on the Columbus might be a little moody, but it should pass.”

With an almost jaw dropping look on his face he turned to the doctor. "Well you seem fairly calm about the whole, but thanks Doc I appreciate the info."

“Calm, yes, but it takes a lot to crack me. I spent years in the search and rescue division of Starfleet. I’ve seen horrors others only dream about. Plus it wasn’t the first ship I’ve been assigned to that had a firey demise.” Marcus sat on the next bio bed. “Lieutenant,” he said as he placed his hand on the Lieutenant’s shoulder. “Stay away from the Klingon. Xindi and Klingons are both hot tempered, warriors races, clashes won’t be pretty.”

Laughing as the doctor asked him to avoid the Klingon, he knew he was talking about Ba'zra and he spoke with a soft tone. "You can trust me doc if it was my decision I'd stay as far away from her as possible, but I guess you know what happened I guess this ship isn't really that big is it." He smiled as he finished his words.

“I’ve always said the walls have ears,” Marcus laughed. “Nurses hear all the gossip.”

"Well I guess i'll be more careful, thanks Doctor at least there is some normal people on this ship." he turned and walked right out of the sick-bay and though to himself. "I don't trust that Doctor he's too nice i'll have to keep an eye on him."
